The pedestrian walkways on the bridge into town are closed in both directions, so the automobile wins again. At least in this town. Though it's right across the river from the hotel — I can see the venue out my window — there is no possibility of walking or biking to the lovely old theater in the center of town.
On a jog through a nearby neighborhood, I notice Kerry placards on some yards and Bush-Cheney ones on some adjacent yards. Must make for tough neighborly relations. Who in their right mind would support Cheney, a charmless bad-tempered toad?
